Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) Essential oils

The CPTG process certifies that there are no added fillers, synthetic ingredients, or harmful contaminants in essential oils that would reduce their efficacy. Essential oils have been proven to have antimicrobial properties and hence have been used in cosmetics to reduce the need for adding synthetic preservatives.    (dōTERRA International, 2017)

Fractionated Coconut Oil

Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO) contains 100% medium chain fatty acids which gives it the property of being readily absorbed through the skin, leaving skin feeling less greasy than other oils. The high fatty acid concentration of FCO also means that it can stand against oxidation very effectively and therefore has a very long shelf life.

Fractionated Coconut Oil is composed predominantly of Capric and Caprylic acid giving it antiseptic and disinfectant properties. FCO is soothing to the skin which helps reduce the symptoms of psoriasis, eczema, chapped lips, dry skin and skin inflammation (Organic Information Services, 2016).

Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Olive oil is an antioxidant which combined with the effects of FCO enrich the antiseptic benefits and long shelf life (self-preserving) properties of this cream.  Olive oil has also been used in the treatment of infant dermatitis and its use has been linked to statistically significant improvements in neonatal dermatitis symptoms (Al-Waili N.S 2005, p160). Its beneficial effects in treating infants who have dermatological problems of infancy when combined with beeswax and other natural products include properties which are antibacterial and antifungal.

Organic Beeswax

Beeswax in this product is used as its primary thickening agent and contributes to the cream’s semi-solid smooth composition. Beeswax forms a barrier to the skin where it is applied and has been proven effective in preventing infant nappy rash and has been used to treat dermatitis, eczema, fungal infections and inflammation  (Fratini, F. et al 2016, p. 839). The addition of beeswax as a thickening agent enables the product to remain on the area of skin where it is applied for a longer duration. The antibacterial and low allergenic properties of beeswax also enhance the properties  of substances containing beeswax.

Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Myrrh Oil

Myrrh oil has a long-standing history of use in treating skin conditions due to its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory antifungal and immune building properties. Skin conditions which have been proven to benefit from the use of myrrh oil include but are not limited to dermatitis, chapped skin, infections, irritated skin and wound healing (Rose, J 1992).

Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Lavender Oil

Lavender oil has a long-standing history of use as an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, anaesthetic and antiseptic agent. Its use for symptom reduction for persons with dermatitis, chapped skin, skin infections and skin irritation are well documented (Rose, J 1992).

Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Geranium Oil

Geranium Essential Oil has multiple uses. The properties of this oil that make it beneficial for use in a nipple balm  are its analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-microbial  and homeostasis. These properties of geranium oil make it ideal for conditions where there is  painful, cracked or tender skin (Harris, L 2016).

Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Sandalwood Oil

The health benefits of Sandalwood essential oil can be attributed to its properties as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, disinfectant, emollient, expectorant and sedative.

When applied to the skin, it protects wounds, sores, boils, and pimples from developing infections or from becoming septic. It provides relief from all types of inflammation. As an antispasmodic it enhances relaxation and muscle spasms which cause aches and coughing.

As an emollient, sandalwood oil soothes the skin, relieves it from inflammation and irritation, cures infections and keeps you feeling fresh and cool.

Sandalwood oil has antiphlogistic properties and gives relief from inflammation resulting from fever and viral infections.

Its sedative properties mean that it reduces inflammation, anxiety, fear, stress, and restlessness. Furthermore, it induces relaxation, calmness, concentration, inner vision, and positive thoughts.
